A Year Lived Slowly – Chapter 4
There is always a road you do not take.
Not because it is wrong,
but because it does not belong to the usual route.
It is there every day,
yet it remains unseen.
Until, without a clear reason,
the eye finally recognizes it.
The step slows, just slightly.
There is no hesitation,
only a calm curiosity,
as if something had asked for attention.
The light changes.
It comes from the side,
draws new shadows,
reveals details that were not there before.
A ring accompanies this unexpected movement.
It is the same as always,
yet now it seems to respond to space,
to a different way of moving through it.
London blue topaz absorbs the uneven light,
making it deeper, less predictable.
It does not light the path:
it bears witness to it.
Taking a road you never took before
is not a decision.
It is an opening.
And sometimes, that alone
changes the way the walk continues.
A piece of Italy, from Silvia Kelly to the world.
