Arcella Jade Earrings

Confucius (551-479 BC) argued that jade possessed eleven virtues, those that every man should follow in his life: “Jade is soft, sweet and glossy to the touch as benevolence, strong, compact and beautiful as intelligence. A defect can never be hidden inside a jade, so as education and sincerity”.

Some jewels are designed to remain immobile, while others are created to live with their wearer: the Arcella earrings belong to the latter category. The undisputed star is jade, presented here in two mirrored drops, finely engraved with motifs that recall the delicacy of nature. The choice of jade for these drop earrings is no coincidence: its characteristic waxy sheen softly captures the light, illuminating the complexion without ever being overbearing. Every time the head moves, the jade gently sways, releasing shades of green ranging from deep sage to crystalline mint, making each pair of earrings unique and one-of-a-kind.

The structure of the Arcella earrings is a small masterpiece of goldsmith balance. We chose to combine 18kt rose gold with white gold to create a two-tone setting that is both warm and luminous. Rose gold envelops the upper part of the jade, blending with skin tones, while white gold defines the attachment to the lobe, ensuring extreme brilliance close to the face. This two-tone finish, performed entirely by hand in our Lecco workshop, ensures the earrings’ weight is perfectly balanced: the jade must float lightly, without ever weighing down the lobe, a technical detail that only a true artisanal goldsmith can achieve with such precision.

Creating jade earrings requires a special sensitivity in selecting two stones that are chromatically similar, while maintaining their natural identity.
