Confucius (551-479 BC) argued that jade possessed eleven virtues, those that every man should follow in his life: “Jade is soft, sweet and glossy to the touch as benevolence, strong, compact and beautiful as intelligence. A defect can never be hidden inside a jade, so as education and sincerity”.

Silvia Kelly’s Fotuo Pendant is much more than an ornament: it is a bridge between cultures, a jewel embodying millennia of history and spirituality. At the heart of the piece is a splendid hand-engraved jade slab, its iconography reminiscent of the figure of Fotuo, a term closely linked to the symbolism of Buddha and enlightenment. Jade, revered in the East as the “stone of heaven,” is the perfect material to house this message of inner peace. Its polished surface and natural hues make each engraving unique, conveying a sense of balance and protection to the wearer.

To enhance the spiritual depth of jade, our workshop designed a sculptural setting that plays on the chromatic contrast of precious metals. 18kt rose gold warmly envelops the gem’s profile, while white gold defines the structure and the refined counterlink. The latter is embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds, adding a celestial sparkle to the composition. The combination of two-tone gold and engraved jade requires a technical expertise that only an authentic artisanal goldsmith can guarantee: each joint is designed to protect the stone while allowing it to unleash its natural light.
